MISSION STATEMENT
Our mission is to provide services and programs that enhance the physical, educational and cultural needs of our children in our community at-large. The development of youth through activities contributing to growth and positive achievements.
• To act as our community’s recreation center, improving their quality of life.
SERVICE
A recreation center contributes to a person’s physical, social, emotional, intellectual development. Systematic evaluation showed that youth clubs and recreation centers make important contributions, including cultural enrichment, development of conflict resolution skills, developing leadership skills, resisting negative/ antisocial behaviors and developing citizenship.
HISTORY OF FORT GREENE SPORTS
Robert Byer founded the Club in the Spring of 2003. The former pro sports sales executive, with the assistance of friend and neighbor Randall Toure and State Assemblyman Roger L. Green felt that organized leisure services contribute significantly to the overall quality and enjoyment of community life. Mr. Toure had served with Assemblyman Green, as Director of Community Relations. The Club offers 10-week programs in a variety of sports, day camps and an after-school for children 5 to 16 years old. Recently the Club introduced fitness programs for infants and adults.
